APUTURE workshop
Lighting, Community & Craft: Inside the Aputure Workshop at York Road Studio
In an industry that’s become increasingly digital, getting people in the same room feels more valuable than ever.
Hosted by studio owner ‘Alan Stockdale’ in collaboration with Aputure, the session brought together a mix of filmmakers, DOPs, gaffers, sparks and lighting enthusiast, all with a shared goal: to better understand how modern lighting workflows are evolving, and how tools like Sidus Link Pro are changing the way we control light on set.
But this wasn’t a sit-back-and-watch kind of session.
The studio became a live playground for lighting. Attendees got hands-on with our wide range of Aputure fixtures, experimenting with setups and exploring how lighting can be controlled seamlessly via Bluetooth and Wireless DMX. It was practical, fast-paced, and rooted in real-world application, exactly how we like to work at York Road.
What stood out most, though, wasn’t just the tech.
It was the conversations.
Between setups, over coffee, and throughout the day, people connected. Ideas were shared, workflows debated, and new relationships formed. That kind of exchange is hard to replicate online, and it’s a big part of why we’re committed to opening up the studio for more events like this.
A huge thank you to Aputure for their support, Tenzing for keeping everyone fuelled, and to everyone who came down, got involved, and made the day a huge success.
